A Godly Perspective

Perspective can be described as the way a person interprets a given situation. In other words, it is the way you see things that happen around you. A Godly perspective is an important concept for Christians to understand because we are told to live by faith. Which means we must allow our belief that God is faithful to fulfill his promises override our natural understanding of a situation. This means it is very important for a Christian to observe things not as a person would, but as God does. In doing this it will allow us to see ourselves, our actions, and our future as God sees it. If man can see the world as God sees it, many things such as fear, confusion, sickness, and doubt will be looked at as issues already beaten by the redemption brought to us by Jesus sacrificing his life for man. The Bible tells us this is a difficult thing to do because it has become human nature to be separated from God and his perspective. Now, to fully understand this we must look to the Bible for knowledge of the blindness of man and the perspective of God.

Read Genesis 3:1-7

Notice here that through temptation to be powerful like God and through wanting eyes to be opened to evil, man sinned for the first time. Here Satan tempts man, and was successful in changing mans perspective. Also, for the first time man separates himself from God and therefore cannot see the world or a situation as God sees it. Sin opens the door for fear, confusion, sickness, and doubt to become a part of humanity.

Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-6

Paul in this letter to the church in Corinth explains that Satan or “the God of this world” has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. This tells us that not only is Jesus the light and the hope for believers but is the way for those who live in sin to be delivered. Those who are not in a relationship with Jesus are blinded by the enemy.

Read Isaiah 42:1-7

Here the Lord addresses the Messiah (Jesus) through the prophet Isaiah and commands him “To open blind eyes” and bring “Them that sit in darkness out of prison”. We know that blind eyes cannot see and those in prison have no freedom. Those who are blind and imprisoned do not have the ability to see God’s love for them. They cannot see how his promises affect their situation. Jesus came to change this.

Read John 3:15-21

Jesus refers here to himself as the light, and tells us that light has come into the world and those who choose darkness over light will face judgment. Understand that through the light of Jesus and his teachings Christians can be brought out of darkness that stops us from seeing God’s love for us, and the redemption brought to us by Jesus. This light allows us to see how God and his redemptive plan affects our daily lives.

Read 2 Peter 1:2-9

Here Peter explains, that by the knowledge of Jesus, God has given us everything we need to live a Godly lifestyle. It is then made clear that by that knowledge of Jesus we have an escape from the corruption and lusts of this world. Next listed are seven qualities that need to be added to our knowledge or faith in Jesus. If these qualities are added to our faith, we then see and are not blinded to our separation from sin through Jesus.

Read Matthew 6:19-24

Jesus speaks here on perspective and also what a person counts as worthy. If we allow ourselves to see the world as most people do, our priorities will be wrong. We will become blind to what God has done for us and what he wants to do with us. Also fear, confusion, sickness, and doubt, just to name a few, will begin to take control of our lives. Therefore we must not allow our perspective, on any subject or circumstance, to separate us from God’s love and perfect plan for man’s redemption.

Read Romans 8:28

This encouraging scripture is the key to understanding God’s will for mans’ perspective. God sees the issues in our lives as already conquered, we must strive to see our problems this way also. The things we deal with on an everyday basis although they sometimes look unbeatable, have already been beaten, for those who love God and accept his son as the savior.

Rules from God for 2009

Rules from God for 2009
1. Wake Up !! Decide to have a good day.
"Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" Psalms 118:24
2. Dress Up !! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart."
I Samuel 16:7

3. Shut Up!! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!... For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. "Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..." Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up !!... To the Lord.
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up !!... For something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path."
Proverbs 3:5-6
7. Lift Up !!... Your Prayers.
"Do not worry about anything;
Instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING."
Philippians 4:6

God answers prayer.

True Worship

Meditate on Hebrews 12:28

There are what are called postures of worship found in the Bible. They are positions or actions of the body that represent inward attitude. They also represent life attitude. These are things you can do in your private time with God or in the worship of the assembly of believers. One of these is reverence. Reverence is a state of awe and respect. God is God and we must worship Him as such. Our worship is shown in focus and true intent. No distractions, no goofing around. If you have reverence towards God it will show in how you worship. Psalm 5:7

See what postures of worship are on Monday’s devotion. Another posture of worship is the lifting of hands. It signifies that you need God. Kind of like “pick me up”. It shows dependence upon Him. It shows focus to Him. Worship Him with the raising of your hands. Psalm 63:4

See what postures of worship are on Monday’s devotion. Another posture of worship is bowing down. This is the ultimate position of submission. We are to serve God and the only true way of doing so is submitting totally to Him. Bowing down shows this attitude. Psalm 95:6

See what postures of worship are on Monday’s devotion. The Bible talks about being still before Him. This is a posture of worship that shows submission and reverence. It is being still and quiet before the God of all things. It says “I am yours, do as you please with me”. It also says “I will not be anxious about anything because you are God”. God is able to lead you and speak to you in these times. Make sure you consistently are still before God- you will begin to know Him more. Psalm 46:10

See what postures of worship are on Monday’s devotion. The last posture of worship we will cover is the song. Singing to God in the reverence of worship is powerful. It is using your body as an instrument of worship - regardless of how good or bad you sing. God made us with voices, not just for communication or entertainment, but also to worship Him. Psalm 98:1

Why do you worship God? Why do you worship Him with your life? Why do you worship Him privately or at church? Is it because you want Him to give you things? Sometimes we think “If I worship Him and look spiritually strong then He will give me what I want”. Worship God simply because He is God. He has saved you, though that’s not all He will do for you, it is enough. Serve God because He is God and not for what you want to get out of Him. Matthew 22:37

You can’t fake it! We already talked about not being a hypocrite. You can put on the “show” at church and in front of your parents, etc, but God sees the condition of your heart and if you are really a true worshiper. Get after it with all you have! Worship Him with your life. Worship Him daily. Great is the reward of those who are true worshipers of God! John 4:24

The Bible has a lot to say about worship. A LOT to say about it. See what worship is, what it does, and what happens when you do it. Simply this: Be a worshiper.

We need to worship God simply because of who He is. He is the God of the universe, creator of all things. His glory, power and might are unmatched. His is simply God, we are simply His creation. Worship Him. Psalm 29:2

There is nothing like God. Nothing. Nothing can do what He can. Nothing can match Him in His perfection. God is the creator. God is the judge. God is the one who sets forth the good for man. People get caught up in things that only can mirror in a imperfect way the things that God is. Don’t get caught up in those things. Live your life for Him. We must worship Him because of who He is. Psalm 89:6-8

At some point, all nations, every person will worship the Lord. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess. For some, it will only be at judgement when this happens. For those, their rejection of God will cause an eternal separation from Him. Worship God from your choice. Respond to His invitation to you to be with Him. Don’t wait till you have to, worship God because you want to. Psalm 86:9

When you worship God, don’t let it be talk from a heart that is actually far from Him. Let your life be worship, a sacrifice to Him, then honor Him in the assembly of believers and to others with the worship of your mouth. Don’t be a hypocrite! Matthew 15:7-9

Your worship to God, both with your life and in the assembly of believers, is a witness and a legacy to others. You are setting an example as to what true worship is. Worship Him in all things at all times and others can follow your lead. It is an incredible thing to leave a trail that others can follow you on! Joshua 22:27

We have to prioritize our worship to God. Not only with the way we change our lives to follow Him, but also in taking time out daily to be with Him in our worship. You have to go out of your way to get it done. Everyone is busy. Don’t be too busy to worship the Lord every day. Example: The wise men traveled a great distance to worship Jesus. It took time, energy and planning. Follow this lead in your life. Matthew 2:2

It is easy to worship God when things are going great and it seems His blessings are coming full force into your life. But, we must worship Him when things are going crazy too. In fact, worshiping God is one of the most important things you can do when things are aren’t going right. You are ensuring that He is with you in your situation and you can then know everything will be alright! Example: Paul & Silas were in prison, yet were worshiping God with hymns. Acts 16:25
